Pictured are all of my tried & tested winter beauty products to help combat all of the things we hate about winter –dry skin issues, no tans (I vehemently oppose tanning beds and spray-tans because of the carcinogens and chemicals), and makeup that stays put this time of year. I love running a hot, steamy shower that makes me feel like I am in a spa somewhere and scrubbing it up, getting rid of all the dry, winter skin and then slapping on some sunless tanner or body oil. Winter doesn’t have to be ALL drab – you can stay glam and gorgeous all year with the right beauty survival kit! Also, these are products that I have used for at least one year or more.
ONE: Josie Maran Argan Oil (Light) is an ultra-light & quick absorbing version of the 100% Pure Argan Oil. I use either this version or the La Mer moisturizing cream every day and night.
TWO: Bobbi Brown Beach Scrub for the body is lightly-scented with sand jasmine, sea spray and mandarin to make you feel like you are at the beach. This is great to use after body wash and before shaving and using selfless tanner. I put an extra dose on my arms and knees so the Clarins tanner applies smoothly.
THREE: Dior Gel Shine Long-Wear Nail Lacquer comes in 16 different colors…gel just lasts about a week longer than regular polish; this one does not contain harmful chemicals and can be removed with regular nail polish remover.
FOUR: Tocca Beauty Hand Cream is enriched with natural extracts from coconut oil, shea butter, and aloe. I first found this at Anthropologie several years ago and now it is the only kind I use. I keep one in my purse and one near my desk at all times. I hate having dry hands more than anything and this one smells Amaaaaaazing!! Plus, I love the pretty bottle.
FIVE: Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream…what can I say about this…it is simply the best, for a reason. I usually get these little dry patches on my cheeks in the winter and putting this on at night gets rid of them. It also reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improves firmness, and leaves you with a youthful/dewy complexion. Just be sure to warm it between your fingers for a few seconds to unleash the full powers of this miracle cream. It comes in four different sizes. – I switch to a lighter version of this (the gel) during summer months.
SIX: Clarins Self-Tanner Instant Gel is my favorite because it is so light-weight and non-greasy, goes on fast and easy and dries even faster. You don’t have to walk around naked for 2 hours waiting for it to dry – just put your clothes on and go about your day. Results appear within 2 hours of application and last around one week. Is this going to make you look like you went to the beach for 3 days? No, but it will give you a healthy, tan glow instead of the drab, pasty you are probably sporting.
SEVEN: Kate Somerville Intensive Exfoliating Treatment. Personally, I trust Kate Somerville because she is known for perfecting celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Demi Moore, Kate Hudson, and many others. This exfoliate is great for combating acne, blackheads, and scrubbing away dead skin cells for a more polished complexion. It is very fine-grain and will not bother you if you have sensitive skin.
