Anthropologie has been my go-to dress shop this year because of designers Byron Lars and Sachin + Babi; these two know how to dress women in a way that will flatter any body type. Let me be honest here for a second –I was not having a “pretty” day the day I took these photos…I felt bloated and not my best (ladies you know what I am talking about); this was a day where I just wanted to dive into the Ben & Jerry’s and crawl under the covers. However, being the ambitious fashion blogger that I am, I slipped into this gorgeous frock and took one for the team! Luckily, my photographer, Casto Photography & Cinema is so good that she made my mainly bloated -feeling day turn out superb!
Also, I love mixing a beautiful, one-of-a-kind vintage piece, like this Chanel purse with a tassel. Finding a good vintage piece is like decorating your home, slowly, over time to get what you want –it may take a whole year of searching and comparing prices, but when you land it, it is all worth it! If you are not sure if you will be able to pass down a vintage item through the generations, don’t bother with it; valuable vintage will hold it’s own over the years. (Case in Point…I purchased this purse for $500.00 and was recently offered $2,000 …of course I said “noooo.”)
More on my “un-pretty” moment…when you find a designer that really knows how to dress a woman, it doesn’t matter if you are having a “bloated” day –you will look gorgeous and the dress will disguise it all. Certain designers know how to make our silhouettes appear slim, and others –not so much. This dress also comes in black, Here, since I know white/cream is not everyone’s best color. It goes back to finding your voice through fashion and what makes you feel beautiful? You should have some rush of emotion when you put on a dress. It’s like a relationship –if you feel nothing, move on to the next; it may look good on the outside…but how does it make you feel? Lastly, if you put on that dress you love and still feel insecure, slip on these new Spanx Shapewear bottoms… Spanx Thigh-Slimming Bottoms. They have saved my “bottom” (had to do it) on more than one occasion!
